Pickford & Black was originally a Nova Scotia shipping firm established in 1876. They started out as ship chandlers and grocers and grew into a booming steamship line that delivered goods throughout the Maritimes and to Cuba and Bermuda.
We kind of have the same mission as the original Pickford & Black…but instead of delivering goods all over the world, we’ll be delivering the best seafood, craft beer, and overall great times to you right here in Halifax.
We are a part of Murphy Hospitality Group, a company that started with one restaurant 38 years ago, and today encompasses 14 restaurants, 2 hotels and the PEI Brewing Company. This is, and has always been, a family run business. Kevin, Kathy, and their three sons, Ben, Sam and Isaac, are integral parts of the company and you will see them around the restaurants and hotels.
What we do know is that we will continue to have fun, continue to hire great people and grow MHG. Although some things have changed over the years, our principles remain the same: friendly, knowledgeable staff, great food, and clean and comfortable locations that help us to create memorable experiences. While our roots are in Prince Edward Island, our desire is to create dishes that are truly Halifax.
Take Out Only
Following the recommendation of the Restaurant Association of Nova Scotia, we’ll be moving to Take Out Only starting Nov. 24th until it’s safe to open our dining room back up.
Take out is available from 3:00pm-9:00pm daily and you can order + pre-pay through our website.
